Even though this winter has been surprisingly warm, the Black Hills of South Dakota have plenty of snow for great snowmobiling. I just got off the phone with Bob Van Deest (owner of Trailshead Lodge) and he is reporting good trail conditions throughout the Northern Black Hills. Snowmobilers can expect freshly groomed trails with no bare spots and 30-40 inches of snow in the meadows and off the trails.

South Dakota Game Fish and Parks does a great job of updating the snow conditions in the Black Hills throughout the winter months.  For more information you can call their hotline number at 800.445.3474, visit their website or log on to Twitter and follow @SDSnowBHills.  All three of these options will give you the most up-to-date information available.
